 We're shifting into a weekly format!
That's right! After a bit of deliberation and a lot of thought and planning, the RBFM team has decided to expand the market to occur every week beginning this June! It was clear that our monthly format was well received but that patrons wanted more. Concurrently we found that many of our vendors, as well as vendors who we're wanting to attract, are hoping for an increase in market frequency. It was clear that going weekly was the right direction for us to take. We're returning to the Mannahouse Church parking lot at the base of Rocky Butte - 9200 NE Fremont St. Our market will run Saturdays from June 4th through September 24th, 9am - 1pm. Our vendor application will go live the beginning of February. Please pass on the word to your favorite farmer or food maker. We are looking for new vendors to join us! These local farmers, food and beverage producers, and artisans look forward to meeting you at the market starting with our first market on Saturday, June 12.
And what a bounty there will be--get ready for the freshest, most delicious fruits, vegetables and herbs; breads, bagels and baked goods; pastured meats and eggs; locally made salsas; cold pressed juices; coffee; hazelnuts; honey; spirits; and handcrafted goods made by neighborhood artisans. Starting in June 2021, Rocky Butte Farmers Market will host five monthly markets providing access to affordable, seasonal, and locally grown foods and artisan products to Northeast Portland’s historically underserved Madison South, Roseway, and Sumner neighborhoods. These markets will take place the second Saturday of each month, June through October, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the spacious parking lot of Mannahouse Church (9200 NE Fremont Street). The 2021 market dates are June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11, and October 9. It’s probably not a surprise to read this news: the Rocky Butte Farmers Market will not operate in 2020 due to the life-altering world we live in, thanks to the coronavirus and Covid-19.
Despite a very positive response from neighbors, past customers and vendors, we realize that 2020 is overwhelming for just about everyone, and we think it’s best to pull back this year and plan for next year. We are pretty excited about all the wonderful things that will happen at the market in 2021, so we are keeping our eyes on the prize, making plans and dreaming of connecting with our passionate community of farmers market supporters.
