It’s probably not a surprise to read this news: the Rocky Butte Farmers Market will not operate in 2020 due to the life-altering world we live in, thanks to the coronavirus and Covid-19.
Despite a very positive response from neighbors, past customers and vendors, we realize that 2020 is overwhelming for just about everyone, and we think it’s best to pull back this year and plan for next year. We are pretty excited about all the wonderful things that will happen at the market in 2021, so we are keeping our eyes on the prize, making plans and dreaming of connecting with our passionate community of farmers market supporters. We look forward to seeing you then.
In the meantime, we’d like to point you to established farmers markets that are happening. Closest to us are the markets in Hollywood and Montavilla; here are more details on those:
Montavilla: This market happens every Sunday, May through October, 10am-2pm. Location: 7700 block of SE Stark Street on the gravel lot. Website.
Hollywood: This market happens every Saturday, 8am -1pm. Please note: they have dedicated 8-9am to serve vulnerable populations. Location: NE Handcock between 44th and 45th Avenues. Website.
Portland’s biggest market, the PSU Farmers Market, is also open for business on Saturdays from 8:30am-2pm, located at SW Park and Montgomery.
Want even more local farmers market info? Head to the Oregon Farmers Markets Association website to see where the area’s markets are located. We love the handy map they have right there on the front page.
Our vendors from last year are still hard at work — head to their websites (you can find them all here) to see how you can help support them. A few things caught our eyes that are happening here in our neighborhoods:
Again, we look forward to seeing you in 2021 at the Rocky Butte Farmers Market. Stay tuned to our website and social channels as we make plans for next year. 2020 sure has turned out to be an interesting and perplexing year, and we wish you all the best in health, happiness, and sustainability.
