Good news: we're back! After a lot of thought, patience and a number of planning sessions, we are thrilled to tell you that we will return to producing farmers markets this coming summer and fall. COVID safety measures are in place.
Starting in June 2021, Rocky Butte Farmers Market will host five monthly markets providing access to affordable, seasonal, and locally grown foods and artisan products to Northeast Portland’s historically underserved Madison South, Roseway, and Sumner neighborhoods. These markets will take place the second Saturday of each month, June through October, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the spacious parking lot of Mannahouse Church (9200 NE Fremont Street). The 2021 market dates are June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11, and October 9.
“We're focusing on building an inclusive market for emerging farmers and vendors that serves the needs of our diverse community,” said Ben Cutler, President of Rocky Butte Farmers Market. “Best-practice COVID safety measures are in place to ensure the health and safety of our vendors, volunteers, customers and community.”
The Rocky Butte Farmers Market is organized entirely by volunteers and funded by donations from local businesses and neighbors. Interested in participating in the market? Below are ways you can get involved and help make RBFM a success:
And of course, come to the market and support our farmers and artisans!
You may remember that the Rocky Butte Farmers Market started out with two extremely popular pop-up market events in 2019 at the Dharma Rain Zen Center. We were planning an expanded five-market season for summer 2020 when the global pandemic struck, requiring us to cancel those plans. The time, effort and donations received helped develop an even stronger foundation on which to build the market for 2021 and beyond.
We encourage you to keep up with the market plans via our social media accounts: Instagram at @rockybuttefm, and Facebook at RockyButteFM. We will update the blog here on the website, too.
