Support the Rocky Butte Farmers Market at Arrowood Restaurant!

One of the ways the Rocky Butte Farmers Market (RBFM) is supporting its operations is through sponsorships (donations and events), and the first sponsorship event for the Market will be a “dine out” occasion at Arrowood, a fantastic local restaurant next door to Second Profession Brewing. The event will take place Monday, March 30 from 4pm to 10pm. 25% of sales from happy hour and dinner service that night will be donated to the Rocky Butte Farmers Market! Arrowood is located at 5846 NE Sandy Blvd.

Arrowood is a restaurant in the Rose City Park neighborhood that serves fresh seasonal food, local wines, and craft cocktails; they offer 14 taps featuring the beer brewed next door at Second Profession Brewing’s production brewery. They rotate their menu quarterly, so you know they are attentive to what’s in season at any time during the year. You can find them open seven days a week for lunch, dinner, happy hour, and brunch.

“We are about being friendly and doing the work so our guests can relax and enjoy themselves without concern,” remarks Arrowood’s manager Mike Duggan. “We want to participate in local events and have a positive impact on our community.” Mike is a veteran of the food industry, and before he landed at Arrowood he was GM at North Portland’s Swift and Union. He has assisted in the opening of many restaurants over his career, and has done a great job with Arrowood’s offerings in food, drink and hospitality.

 
​We asked Mike what the origin of the restaurant’s name was and he explained, “Arrowood is my grandmother's maiden name. They have a notebook that traces the heritage all the way back to 1450 in central Sweden. We chose it to honor our family heritage and because it is fairly unique.” And when we asked why he chose to focus his energies in Rose City Park, he replied “We chose this neighborhood because we live here. I have wanted a place like this to arrive in the ‘hood for about 20 years!”

The restaurant has certainly been something the neighborhood has been eager to receive, judging from the positive reviews and enthusiasm for Arrowood. Mike says they feel like they have established a unique place in the neighborhood because of the high quality of the food and the comfort of the atmosphere. And then there’s the beer — as local as you can get. “The ability to serve not only the beer of the brewery that is in our building, but also offer other options from around the region and the country gives us an edge,” Mike remarks.

As for the style of food Arrowood offers, Mike tells us, “We are not bound by one style of food, so we can offer a mix of things from different cultures. And we are vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free friendly.” Check out their menus, here. Also, minors are allowed at all times and all hours, making it a place welcoming to families of all kinds.

“I'm most excited about seeing the place full with the kind of energy and buzz that it deserves,” said Mike. “I'm also happily expecting some people to find out we are here and become regular guests. We are committed to being here and having a positive effect on the community in general.”

Our Dine Out event at Arrowood will feature their full menu, plus market-inspired food specials, a $5 signature RBFM cocktail, a featured farmhouse beer from Second Profession Brewing, a raffle, and the chance to chat with the RBFM organizers.
